Dimapur, September 15: A Defence Correspondents’ Workshop was held at the headquarters of the Eastern Command in Kolkata from September 11 to 13.
The 3-day workshop was organised by Press Club Kolkata in collaboration with Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, with one-day familiarisation of each of the tri-services.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Chief of Staff, Eastern Command Lt. Gen. RC Srikanth. In his inaugural address, the chief of staff highlighted the role of free media and called for accurate and responsible Journalism, in general, and in matters of defence forces in particular.
Through the three-day long workshop, around 40 journalists including Menuse-O Max Khieya, a journalist from Nagaland’s Eastern Mirror, nominated by different mainstream media, were given an exposure to the organisational set up, different branches, formations, and other relevant issues of the tri-services, so as to enable the journalists to report the armed forces with proper dimension.
The workshop, which was organised by Press Club Kolkata after almost two decades, concluded with Indian Navy and Air Force on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
