‘Appeals, appreciates & welcomes’
Dimapur, January 21: The Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF) of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Monday had another unproductive meeting in the conference hall of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly if the resolutions adopted in today’s meeting are anything to go by.
The resolution of today’s meeting is a carbon copy of the Parliamentary Working Committee PWC) of the Joint Legislators’ Forum (JLF) on Naga Political Issue held in the committee room on December 19, 2018, albeit some minor changes.
The resolution of today’s meeting signed by JLF Chairman & Speaker in-charge, Zhaleo Rio; Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio; Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang; Deputy CM, Y Patton; Ministers G Kaito Aye & Temjen Imna Along; MPs Tokheho Yepthomi & KG Kenye and MLA (Advisor) L Khumo said the house upheld the resolutions adopted by the PWC of JLF in its meeting held on 19th November, 2018.
However, as per records available no PWC JLF meeting was held on 19th November, 2018, except on 19th December, 2018.
In its meeting held on December 19, 2018, the forum had made a major blunder by mentioning the PWC of JLF on “Nagaland Political Issue” forcing the assembly secretariat to issue a corrigendum and correct the same to “Naga Political Issue”.
The only addition in today’s JLF resolution to that of the PWC JLF resolution of 19th December was to have consultations with all the NNPGs involved
in the ongoing peace talk and thereafter to meet Central leaders on Naga political issue either with all the 60 members/PWC members of by the Leader of the House, Deputy Chief Minister and the Leader of Opposition with the representatives of all the political parties and MPs.
The deletion from the 19th December resolution in today’s JLF resolution was the house expression of condolences on the sad demise of Gen (Rtd) Kholi Konyak who passed away on 12th December, 2018.
Otherwise the rest of today’s resolutions was same as the 19th December resolutions: appeal to the negotiating parties of the Indo-Naga political dialogue, especially to the Government of India, to expedite the ongoing peace talks for an early honourable and acceptable settlement; appreciation to the GoI for its commitment to the ongoing negotiations; appreciation and welcoming the participation of different NNPGs who have come forward and joined the negotiations with GoI; appeal to all NNPGs to come forward and join the negotiations, appreciation to civil societies, tribal organizations, Church, NGOs, etc for positively contributing towards the Naga issue.
Both January 21 and December 19, 2018 JLF resolutions also appealed to all sections to strive towards unity of the Naga family in order to collectively work towards oneness and not towards further fragmentation of the Naga family, while also reiterating the democratic desire of the Naga people to live together as members of the same family under one administrative umbrella. Both resolutions were also adopted unanimously. (Page News Service)
