Kohima, September 23: Nagaland Minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu said that the Nagaland Assembly Joint Legislature Forum (JLF) on Nagaland political issue under the chairmanship of NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer held a closed door meeting with the Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups at the same venue.
Following Opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) withdrawing from the JLF on August 18, this is the first such meeting of JLF with NNPGs.
JLF currently comprises only the ruling coalition partners – Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, BJP and Independent.
Wednesday’s meeting was attended by leaders and representatives of the Working Committee NNPGs and the 33 JLF members including Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Speaker Longkumer, he said.
Kronu revealed that both sides shared and updated each other on the progress of the talks with the Government of India for a solution to the prolonged Naga political issue.
“The JLF has also appealed to the Working Committee to consider coming together with NSCN(IM) on the issue, to which they have also expressed their willingness,” Kronu added.
