Guwahati, August 9: Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA), while expressing shock over the mysterious death of Tinsukia based scribe Bijendeep Tanti, demanded a high level probe into the incident. Engaged with a private channel (NewsTime Assam), Bijendeep was found dead at his rented office room on Saturday (August 8). He run a facebook portal named DinPratidinNortheast. He left behind his wife and two children with other relatives.
Bijendeep, 32, was away from his residence for two days. Family members thought he was staying in his office, as he used to do so occasionally, but his mobile was switched off. The people nearby his office in Tinsukia town saw it was closed for two days and bad smell came out of it. When the door was opened in presence of the police, Bijendeep was seen lying with injuries on his neck. The police started investigation and picked up two individuals for interrogations.
“Bijendeep Tanti becomes the eleventh Assam based media person, we have lost during the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown,” said JFA president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria staetd.
