Kohima, July 12: Irked by poaching of its lone legislators allegedly by the Nationalist Democratic Progressive party (NDPP), the Janata Dal (United) said it will serve legal notice to the NDPP.
A communiqué issued today through party’s coordinator, publicity and program, Mohammad Nisar said a legal notice will be issued through the concerned advocate of the JD(U)within a shortest time.
“JDU is compelled to decide taking up a lawsuit against the NDPP for failing to respond to the JDU office letter dated 26.06.2019 wherein the JDU) has sought a clarification on the public claims of merger of JDU to NDPP by the NDPP,” the communiqué said.
“It is pertinent to say that there is a total confusion within the top ranks of NDPP. While the President of NDPP, over a telephonic talks, has stated that there was a little mistake in the Press Statement of the NDPP, the Secretary General of the NDPP, on the other hand, over Whatsapp to the General Secretary JDU, has stated that there is no merger documents with them (NDPP). The confusion of the NDPP is a mockery of democracy,” Nisar said.
The JDU coordinator said NDPP has exposed its deliberate and unethical action of the party and their total disregard to established principles in the functioning of a recognized political party. He said NDPP has intentionally exhibited their selfish poaching tactics without any reservation and respect to the well-being of other political parties.
When contacted, Nisar said his party has been with the PDA to support the BJP. “As far as BJP is comfortable with us we will support PDA,” he asserted.
The PDA led by NDPP was formed with BJP, JD(U), NPP and one Independent. NPP and JD (U) have joined the NDPP.
Another JD(U) leader also claimed that Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has applied old method of poaching the MLAs to increase the tally of his party so that he does not run the government at the mercy of other parties. (Page News Service)
