JCCV suspends proposed sit-in demonstration

DIMAPUR, APRIL 10: The Joint Coordination Committee for Dimapur District (JCCV) has suspended the proposed sit-in demonstration that was supposed to be held on April 11 and 12 at Dhansiripar on the verbal request of the Chief Secretary in the meeting held on April 7 last in his office and gave some more days to the 3-member Committee headed by Home Commissioner to study the matter for peaceful resolution of the impasse.
The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the JCCV held at the resident of Vekuto Swu, treasurer and president, Sema-Dimasa Union, Dhansiripar Sub-Division today.
According to a press release issued by JCCV convenor, LK Swu and co-convenor, Tsthrongse Sangtam, the JCCV would desist from any kind of agitation for now in the larger interest of the people and the Government.
The JCCV further decided to continue the official dealings with Deputy Commisioner, Dimapur, despite the Government notification putting Dhansiripar Sub-Division under the jurisdiction of Chumoukedima district.
Further course of action would be decided in due course of time in case the matter is not taken up by the Government for peaceful resolution, it added.
