Jain community celebrates Paryushan Parv


Dimapur, September 23: Jain Community today took out a procession from Jain Temple via G.S. Road, NL Road, Kalibari road on the occasion of Ananta Fortnite.
It is being celebrated on the 10th day of its Paryushan Parva or Ten Commandments. This is the festival of observing maximum restraint from worldly life by the Jains observing celebration of extreme forgiveness, humility, honesty, soul-cleansing, truth, detachment, meditation, sacrifice& celibacy.
Today is also the salvation anniversary of Jains’ 12th Lord Vasu Pajya Nath. More than 17 Jains of Dimapur Jains are observing complete fast, except drinking water once in a day. The procession was followed by Peace-Showering of Lord for World Peace.
Nationally, thousands of Jains are observing 10-day fasting besides many observing 16 days, 32 days fasting. One of its monk, Pranna Sagarji is observing 66 days fast which will culminate on Tuesday at Hyderabad. All Digamber Jains will celebrate forgiveness day nationally. (Page News Service)
