Jacob eulogizes Modi

DIMAPUR, JUNE 15: Minister for PHED, Jacob Zhimomi today said that Northeast was neglected by the national political parties who governed the country since Independence and questioned why it happened.
“Perhaps, we had very less number of representatives in the Parliament and they (ruling parties) thought that Northeast is a marginalized section, region of the country…so we could ignore them”, he expounded adding, “That’s how we were sidelined in terms of social development, economic development and political development which needed intervention of the Central Government.”
He said today when we see the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the country, he has kept Northeast at par with the rest of the country.
“Northeast means new engine and Northeast will be the trajectory of growth story of this country with rich biodiversity, flora and fauna, with simple and hardworking people, with rich natural resources”, he added.
Jacob, who is a BJP legislator from 4-Ghaspani-I Assembly Constituency, said during other political parties regime, they had coined Northeast in a different manner. “Perhaps they made an attempt saying Look East Policy, but after PM Modi assumed the chair of the Prime Minister of the country, he said Act East Policy”, he said adding, “Northeast will be corridor of the South East Asian countries, including Thailand, Burma, including other neigbouring countries.”
He said the Prime Minister has immense, comprehensive and profound vision for Northeast, including the State of Nagaland. He said PM Modi has made the people of Northeast feel that they are at par with the rest of the country.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Khevishe Achumi, General Secretary (Admn), BJP, Vitoho Y Zhimomi, President, BJP 4-Ghaspani-I, Hokaito Zhimomi, State Spokesperson, Tokuho Neho, President, BJP Dimapur district.
