ITA emerges champion of FAI open taekwondo c’ship


Dimapur, November 3: Immanuel Taekwondo Academy won the team champion by bagging a total of 18 Gold, 10 Silver and 14 Bronze medals in the 6th Faith in Action Open Taekwondo Championship organized by Faith in Action International Taekwondo Academy and promoted by Nagaland Pencak Silat Association held at Dimapur Government College auditorium, Dimapur on November 1&2.
The 1st runners-up was St. Stephens Hr. Sec. School with 7 Gold, 7 Silver and 13 Bronze medals and 2nd runners up was Westside School with 7 Gold 8 Silver and 12 Bronze medals. Altogether 258 players and 30 officials took part in the championship from St. Joseph Global School, Westside School, Christian Hr. Sec. School, Pranabananda Women’s College, St.Stephen’s Hr. Sec. School, Carmel Hr. Sec. School, Vision Home Hr. Sec. School, Oracle School, St. Marys Hr. Sec. School, St. Thomas Hr. Sec. School, Immanuel Taekwondo Academy and PT- Academy, Tripura.
Individual awards are also given to Best Fighters in 8 male and female divisions, namely Sub-Junior Boys – Smaiham Langthasa, Westside School; Sub-Junior Girls – Anna Sumi, Carmel School; Cadet Boys – Pongyan Phom, Vision Home School; Cadet Girls – Alokali V. Awomi, Immanuel Taekwondo Academy; Junior Boys – Puloto Swu, St. Stephens School; Junior Girls – Nongyan Konyak, St. Stephens School; Senior Boys- Kitenlo K. Thono, Immanuel Taekwondo Academy and Senior Girls- Hinokali, Pranabananda Women’s College.
“Best of the Best Fighter” in boys was Imnatoshi Longkumer, Immanuel Taekwondo Academy while Best of the Best Fighter in girls category was Liike Kibami, Immanuel Taekwondo Academy.
The Best Referee was Asa V. Chishi and Kivin; Player of the year” in Boys – Vihuka Aye, St.Stephens’ Hr. Sec. School; Player of the year Girls – Zouzam yala, Immanuel Taekwondo Academy; Best Discipline Award – Westside School and Best Active Team – St.Stephen’s Hr. Sec. School.
The winning trophies were handed over to the champions by Vikheho Awomi, former DMC chairman.
