
DIMAPUR, JUNE 8: Nagaland will likely experience isolated heavy rainfall till June 14, according to a forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday.
“Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over the (Northeast) region during the week. Very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on June 9 and Assam & Meghalaya on June 12; isolated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya during June 9 to 14; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during June 8-14”, it stated.
The IMD also informed that the cyclonic storm Biparjoy (pronounced as Biporjoy) ~ the first storm brewing in the Arabian Sea this year, is currently centered about 860km west-southwest of Goa ~ has now turned very severe and is expected to intensify further in the next 48 hours.
