IRCSN visits 6 districts

Dimapur, March 11: The Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland (IRCSN) visited 6 districts, which began on February 21, informed a press release.
The IRCSN team led by Dr. Neiphi Kire, General Secretary, visited Tseminyu, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon districts and culminated at Kohima on March 7.
“It was encouraging to note that all the Deputy Commissioners who are incidentally the Chairman of the Society have shown much support and enthusiasm in the Red Cross activities. The team distributed blankets to the poor and needy in all the districts and hygiene kits which contained soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, shaving set, oil, etc., were given out to the villagers.
“Almost 400 poor and needy persons were given blankets, hygiene kits, face mask, etc., during the tour programme. The IRCSN team had a thorough discussion and deliberation with the district Red Cross officials in all the districts. Discussion on issues of implementation and scaling up the Red Cross activities including junior and youth Red Cross was deliberated. The IRCSN has now decided to reactivate Junior Red Cross at schools and Youth Red Cross at the colleges”, it stated.
The first phase of district tour culminated with visit to Old Age Home, Meriema, Kohima and AIDS Hospice, Seithogei, Kohima where mink blankets, hygiene kits and face masks were distributed.
It expressed appreciation of N Thongwang Konyak, MLA of Mon district, for his participation in the programme at Mon. The Red Cross team plans to visit the rest of the districts in the near future, it added.
