IRCS Wokha conducts medical camp


Dimapur, March 29: The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Wokha district branch organized a multi specialty health camp at Yanthamo Village (PHC Nyiro) covering seven villages on March 27.
Chairman IRCS and DC Wokha, Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS, said the camp is aimed at facilitating patients who are unable to avail medical facilities at medical centres of the government health care system. The IRCS Wokha branch has been organizing medical camps every year, he said calling on the same to be carried forward. He however pointed on the need to diversify the activities of the camp from disbursing medicines to choosing doctors from across the State or Country and organize surgical camps.
The main aim of organizing such camp is to bridge the gap between the patients and the hospital specially for people living in a remote area, he stated. He expressed optimism that IRCS will organize such camps in the remotest areas.
Multispecialty doctors including medicine, ENT, eye, gynaecologist and dentist participated at the camp. Other vertical programme such us leprosy, NUBDCP and Aids control society were also involved. Free HIV blood test and malaria blood test besides free medicine were given to the patients at the camp. The Red Cross Society also provided water tank for PHC Nyiro and Chukitong. BP instrument were provided to PHC Wozhuro, Humtso and Elumyo.
