Dimapur, September 4: Chief Postmaster, General North East Postal launched Phek Branch India Post & Payments Bank (IPPB) on September 1 at its office premise, Phek with Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Orenthung Lotha as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC called upon the people to take the opportunity by opening an account and also urged the office to reach out to all sections of the people.
The DC also assured that the district administration will do its best by working hand in hand, and in this regards called upon the gathering for cooperation and upliftment of post office.
“We need to impart to the grassroots levels about financial literacy so that economy is generated in the entire field,” he said. The DC also released a special cover on financial inclusion and launched IPPB branch.
Mon: Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS launched India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) of Mon Branch on September 1 in the DC’s conference hall.
Speaking at the launching programme, the DC appreciated the Postal Department, Mon branch for successful launching IPPB at Mon. He said IPPB will provide banking and financial service to the people in the rural areas in the district. The postal department is serving dual purpose; postal service and banking service to the people. He also informed that this IPPB is almost similar to that of other normal banks and IPPB is owned by the Government of India, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Deputy Commissioner Mon also released special cover on financial inclusion and distributed QR cards to the account holders.
P. Hangshing, Post Master, Mon Branch said that India Post Payment Bank is a differentiated bank set up under the guidelines of RBI to further include the underprivileged population by providing current and saving account, payment or remittance service for low income household and small business etc.
