IOCL distributes free aids & appliances to persons with disabilities

Dimapur, November 7: Under CSR initiative of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), on Saturday, free aids and appliances were distributed among the persons with disabilities here at the Chapel Hall District Hospital, Dimapur.
The programme was organized by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) in collaboration with State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in which DC Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan was the special guest while Chief General Manager of IOCL and state head G Ramesh was the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Soundararajan praised the “proactive” initiative of IOCL and added that while assistances like these are important and, DDRC, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities have their responsibilities, it is also necessary that people in general have a holistic and inclusive approach towards the differently abled.
During the programme, the documents of a TrueNAT machine were also handed over to the DC by the representatives of the IOCL.
Soundararajan in his speech said that he had mentioned about the machine only once and thereby, the IOCL took all the necessary measures for clearance and to make it a reality.
G Ramesh in his brief remark said that the programme was supposed to take place in the month of March, but it had to be delayed because of the pandemic and added that the company does its best to do something for the society and create job opportunities.
It was on February 22, 2020 that 303 beneficiaries were identified and while on Saturday only a few people received the aids during the programme, the remaining would receive theirs from the DDRC. As part of the initiative, a total of 625 aids have been received comprising of smart canes, smart phones, wheel chairs, tricycles, daisy player, auxiliary crutch, elbow crutch etc. (Page News Service)
