Intl Biodiversity Day observed

Dimapur, May 27: Twenty-five years of convention on biological diversity, safeguarding life on earth was held at Forest colony community hall, Wokha on May 22 on the theme “Celebrating 25 years of Action for Biodiversity” with ADC Wokha Nokchasashi as the special guest.
The ADC said there are about thousands of species of living creatures and every species co-exist and even loss of even one species effect our biodiversity and added every species is important for our wellbeing urged for conservation of biodiversity. Stating Nagaland is rich in biodiversity he said it is the responsibility of every individual to give effort in conserving it.
Member Secretary Nagaland State Biodiversity Board (NSBB), CCF & BR, Supongnukshi, IFS while giving the key note address said the United Nation has proclaimed May 22, the International Day for biodiversity (IDB) to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. He said under Wokha district there are about 21 Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) and expressed happiness to the various BMC formed in various villages for proper management of the committee and urged them to keep up the good work.
Forest Ranger, Doyang Division, Wokha Mr.Lansothung Lotha dwelled on presentation on rich Biodiversity of Nagaland. Short speeches were also delivered by Wokha village and Pangti Village BMC. The programme was organised by Nagaland State Biodiversity Board.
