International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking: Women two-wheeler & foot rally flagged off

Dimapur, June 25: Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo, flagged off an all-women two-wheeler and a foot rally in commemoration of this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on the theme “Addressing Drug Challenges in Health and Humanitarian Crisis” Saturday morning
Speaking on the occasion, Tetseo noted that although this kind of gathering may or may not deter people from using drugs, their major objective is to create awareness.
Giving a brief history of the celebration of the day, DCP (HQ) Dr Mhalo Ezung said that this year with the theme “Addressing Drug challenges in Health and Humanitarian crisis”, the United Nations Office of Drug on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is addressing transnational drug challenges stemming from situations of crisis and added that the synthetic drug crisis require nimble and adaptable solutions.
The all-women two-wheeler rally began at the CP office and ended at Chümoukedima. The foot rally which also started at the CP office, ended at City Tower. A total of 145 police officers had participated in the two rallies. (Page News Service)
