Police register criminal case; constitutes SIT
Dimapur, November 19: An uneasy calm prevails in and around Thongtso village under Noklak District where on November 18 a suspected inter-tribal feud claimed one life and injured another.
The State police has registered a criminal case and also constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure speedy and fair investigation into the incident.
Following report of the incident on Wednesday, State DGP along with Commissioner, Nagaland and IGP (R) Nagaland had immediately rushed to Tuensang to take stock of the situation.
DEF Tuensang informed that by the order of DGP Nagaland, a SIT from Police Headquarter (PHQ) has been constituted to ensure a speedy and fair investigation.
Tuensang police informed that on November 18 evening extensive raids at suspected locations were carried out under the supervision of Additional SP and SDPO Tuensang, and 4 weapons were seized.
Additional Security Forces along with the State Special Task Force has been deployed at different strategic locations in and around the affected place to prevent further escalation of violence. (Page News Service)
