Independence Day celebrated across Nagaland

Dimapur, August 15: The 75th Indian Independence Day was celebrated at Dimapur with Minister for PHED, Jacob Zhimomi unfurling the National Flag and taking Rashtriya salute at DDSC stadium.
The Minister, in his speech, stated that India has been moving ahead with determination in every domain and has come to secure its place among the most important and influential nations in the world. He said that the State has also been an equal partner with all the other States in the journey that all have been making towards development and prosperity.

In pursuit of the final solution to the Naga political issue, he said, hopes have risen to a great extent as in recent years “we have seen significant forward movement on the issue as the Naga Political Groups have been in ceasefire with the Government of India for a long time and the peace talks over the years have made significant progress”.
Zhimomi also mentioned that the State government has, over the past years, played the role of active facilitator in the ongoing Naga political talks.
Highlights of the celebration included distribution of certificates to villages and colonies that have achieved 100% COVID vaccination (1st dose), special number by Kevizhapu Kire, war dance by Ethnic Performing Arts and group song by Musik-A School.
Evening programme included prize distribution and beating of retreat by 15 IRB (Mahilla).
Mokokchung: In Mokokchung, the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence Day was celebrated at Imkongmeren Sports Complex.
Independence Day Speech was read out by Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation and Land Resources, P Paiwang Konyak. The parade contingents consisted of 2nd NAP Alichen, 13th NAP (IR). Home Guards & Civil Defence & State Disaster Response Force and were led by Parade Commander, Pholosing Sangtam, DEF Mokokchung, Second in Command, Kitskha Achumi ABI, DEF Mokokchung. As part of the celebration, cultural items were presented by Medem Ruju Cultural Club, Mongsenyimti Village, Sumi Union, Mokokchung town and Konyak Union, Mokokchung town.

On the occasion, the Minister presented the District Awards to MTBA Eleos Initiative, for their response towards the COVID-19 pandemic in Mokokchung District, Aotsung Ozukum and Moamongba in recognition of their response to the COVID-19 pandemic as volunteers in the DTF ambulance service; Limanungsang Kichu, in recognition of his social service in the district and for his pivotal role in conflict management while settling various land disputes between the government and the landowners in the district.
The following villages: Moalenden, Longjemdang A, Khensa, Salulemang, Mongsenyimti, Yaongyimsen, Nukshiyim, Lizo Model villages and Sabangya compound were felicitated for achieving 100% COVID-19 vaccination coverage.
Two girl student toppers, Maongla Longchar from Town Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung (11th Rank in the HSLC Examination 2021) and Yashijungla from Christian Standard Higher Secondary School Changtongya (16th Rank in the HSLC Examination2021) were felicitated on the occasion under District Level Centre for Women-Mahila Shakti Kendra (BBBP). The Minister also inaugurated the Exhibition Stalls set up by the Agri. and allied department.
Noklak: Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, V Kashiho Sangtam hoisted the National Flag at Noklak Hq.
He took the Rashtriya salute from the contingent of DEF/3rd NAP Noklak, Village Guard Yokao/Panso Hq and Village Guard Aniashu. The parade contingents were led by Assistant Commandant 3rd NAP, Logubo Nsu and 2nd Parade Commander ABI, Imkummeren Ao.

Other highlights of the day included Presentation of District Commendation Award, which was handed over by the Minister.
The recipients were: T Mucho Khiamniungan PGT, GHSS, Noklak; P Yamso Shiu PT, GHS Thonoknyu; M Tsongtsa, GT GMS Nokhu; P Thento PT GMS Noklak HQ; C Esther PT GPS Noklak HQ; L Puchong, Asst. Teacher, St. Paul School Noklak; S Chongliu, Asst. Teacher, Christian High School, Noklak; T Sulem, Agriculture Field Assistant, Agri office Noklak; and K Lam, Dobashi Gr. II, DC Office, Noklak.
Felicitation of students who qualified for Sainik School, Punglwa through coaching conducted by 45th Assam Rifles was also handed over by Minister.
Winners of the Open Online Quiz Competition were also declared which was organized by District Adminstration, Noklak as a part of Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav
A traditional cultural dance was performed by Yokao Village Guards.
To mark the occasion, Red Cross Society, Noklak visited Community Health Centre, Noklak. The occasion ended with the Beating of Retreat by 3rd NAP Noklak.
Tuensang: Tuensang celebrated the 75th Indian Independence Day with Advisor to Power Department, H Tovihoto Ayemi as special guest at the parade ground.
The review of parade was done by DIG Range Tuensang, Rajashekera. A total of five contingents namely DEF Tuensang, 3rd NAP, VG Ngangpong , VG Kuthur and 3rd NAP Pipe Band participated in march pass with Shikato Swu, Dy. SP, as a Parade Commander and Tohanba ABI as second in command.
District Commendation awards were also given to nine persons: P Yingei Chingkhong, Sr. HA, Sao Chang Government College; Thungti Lempong Chang, Information Assistant, DPRO; Hanstsula Yimchunger LDA, CMO; Tsarise Sangtam Driver, DPO ICDS; Likhumse Sangtam, Team Leader COVID Care Centre; Yongsentela, Asst. Nursing MS District Hospital; A Kilemsungla, Nursing Sister MS, District Hospital; Hav. Sangthing Khaimniungan, DEF; and Bumet Chollen Chang, Lineman, Power Department.
Chang Cultural troupe team CCSU, Sangtam Cultural Troupe and Yimchunger Cultural Troupe performed cultural items.
Tovihoto inaugurated the exhibition stall arranged by the Agri and Allied Department of Tuensang at parade ground and also visited the GBs Court.

The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer as the Special Guest at Longleng public ground.
The Special Guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute from five contingents comprising DEF Longleng, 12th NAP (IR) Chingtok, Village Guard Yaongyimchen & Yachem, Yingli College and Students Police Gadet Bautung Government Higher Secondary School, followed by inspection of ceremonial parade and Independence Day speech.
The highlights of the day-long celebration were distribution of district award and poetry slam award by the Special Guest, special song by Crossroads, poem recitation by winner of poetry slam competition, cultural dance by Yongnyah cultural troupes (female) and Bhumnyu cultural troupes (male), football exhibition match between Officer’s Club Longleng & Phom Students Conference and volleyball exhibition match between Longleng Town Students Union & Phenei Soti Club.
The Special Guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls and inspected the stall displayed by various government agencies, NGOs and SHGs.
Phek: The 75th Independence Day Celebration was held at local ground, Phek Town with Minister for Higher Education & Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, as Special Guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute.
The Special Guest inspected the parade contingents and delivered the Independence Day speech on the occasion. Four parade contingents took part in the march past: 22 Assam Rifles, Phek DEF, 5th NAP, Phek and Home Guards & Civil Defence, Phek.

The highlights of the programme included special songs by Kuluvelu Swuro and Nuta D Vadeo & Friends, folk song by Pochury Women Hoho, Phek Town and Folk Dances from Jericho II Colony Youth, Phek Town and Phek village Cultural Troupe.
The Special Guest inaugurated exhibition stalls put up by DRDA, Phek, Agriculture Department, Phek, Horticulture Department, Phek, Fishery Department, Phek, ATMA, Phek, NRLM, Phek, Sericulture Department ,Phek ,Land Resources Department, Phek, DLCW-MSK, Eatery Pastry, District Legal Service Authority, Phek, Veterinary Department, Phek, North East Network, Chizami and Entrepreneur Associate. DTF, Phek paid an official visit to District Jail and District Hospital.
A Special Medical Camp was organised at Town Hall, Phek. The programme concluded with Prize Distribution followed by “Beating of Retreat” by 22 Assam Rifles.
Wokha: The 75th Independence Day programme was celebrated at Wokha local ground with Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue, Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu as the CHIEF GUEST.
Other highlights of the day included feeding of inmates, Sub-Jail Wokha by DLSA (Legal Services) Wokha, Mhondamo Memorial District Hospital by Wokha District Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital by SBI, Wokha (Main Branch) and 40th Assam Rifles Hospital by All Nagaland Taxi Union, Wokha.
During the celebration, District Level award, District Commendation Certificate and Certificate of appreciation for achieving 100% COVID-19 vaccination of eligible beneficiaries to K. Abel Ezung (vaccinator), L Oponthung Kinghen (data operator), C Mhonthung Patton (data manager), T Renpi Tsopoe (Naik- SP Office Wokha) and T Mhonbeni Yanthan Women Police Constable, Ruchan Village Under Bhandari Block (Zareni) and Seed Farm, Merapani under Bhandari Block (Wondanglo CHO).

Two parade contingents from Home Guard & Civil Defence and 7th NAP Bhandari took part in the parade. The parade contingent was led by Assistant Commandant 7th NAP, Ashito Aye and ABI Temsumongba. Other highlights included folk song by Soying Cultural Group Elumyo village, Zuvotong cultural group Humtso village, special number by Zacheo Jeru Ezung and Lobeno Tungoe.
Peren: Peren District celebrated 75th Independence Day at Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, with Advisor to Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Women Resources Development, R Khing as the Special Guest.
On his arrival at the venue, the Special Guest unfurled the National Flag, took Rashtriya salute and delivered Independence Day speech. This was followed with March Past from the parade contingents comprising 36th Assam Rifle (band party), DEF Peren, 9th IRB, Saijang, All Saints Hr. Sec. School, Peren and Peren Govt. College (NCC)
National Flag was hoisted in all Govt. offices/residences/institutions. Folk song and folk dance by Jalukie Dancing Troupe and a special number by Kizaiwi Mpom were the other highlights of the day.
Meanwhile, 75th Independence Day was also successfully celebrated at Ahthibung Headquarter at the premises of SDO (C) Office, Athibung and ADC Office, Jalukie. The celebration programme officially concluded with beating of retreat by DEF, Peren in the evening.

Along with rest of the nation, Zunheboto district celebrated 75th Independence Day at Zunheboto local ground with Advisor for School Education KT Sukhalu as the Special Guest.
Parade contingent was led by Tongpang Ao, Assistant Commandant and seven contingents participated in the parade.
At the programme, Horticulture Department presented awards with certificate and cash to six individuals for best progressive farmer in the field of Horticulture.
Mon: Mon celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day at the local ground with Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom as the Chief Guest. Upon his arrival, the Minister hoisted the National Flag and reviewed the parade. The event witnessed march past of the following contigents: DEF Mon, 6th NAP, Village Guards and 6th NAP Pipe Band led by Parade Commander, Asst. Commandant, Seyiechulhou.
Dr. Neiphrezo Sorunuo received the Principal Director’s Commendation Award under the Department of Health & Family Welfare; 6 villages: Sangsa, Mohung Changai, Sowa Chagle, Obay, Leanghah and Chingphoi received awards for achieving 100% vaccination with 1st Dose of Covishield.
In commemoration of the 75th Independence Day, 2 competitions were organised and the winners were felicitated as under:
Essay Writing Competion: 1st Ngipnon Konyak, 2nd Hongkam K Konyak and 3rd Nakkai Wangsa
Wall Painting Competition: 1st Nahpang S Konyak, Khanwang and Khampei, 2nd Phongwang E Konyak, Manheih H Konyak and Wanmei L Konyak and 3rd H Kemya Konyak and H Longkun Chaiwang Yanlem.
The event also witnessed performances by Mon Chamber Choir, Mon District Dancers Union and Cultural Dance by Chen Union, Mon Town.

Later in the evening, an exhibition football match was played between Officers Club Mon versus Civil Societies (KU & KSU). After which, the “Beating of Retreat Ceremony” was performed by the 6th NAP Pipe Band
Kiphire: In Kiphire, the 75th Independence Day was celebrated at the public ground, with Minister for Housing, Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum as the Special Guest.
The special guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute from four contingents comprising VG Kiphire Village, DEF Kiphire, 14th IR Bn and 41 AR Bn.
Special presentation was presented by the Infinite Nagas, Three Colours by GHSS Kiphire, folk song by Easter Sumi Totimi Hoho.
The programme was followed by the launching of “Smoke Free District Headquarter” campaign by the special guest.
‘Kiphire’s Mango Tea’ was also launched by the special guest. In the district, a lot of potential fruits are wasted in the farmers’ field; so, in order to put value addition to the crop and increase farmers’ income, the DHO Kiphire and NSRLM Longmatra had identified mango as a value fruit crop by promoting a product called Kiphire’s Mango Tea.
Special guest also visited the Shalom CHILDREN HOME and Kiphire District Disability Association. The programme ended with Beating of Retreat by DEF Band Kiphire.
Pughoboto: Joining the rest of the country, people from the Pughoboto division celebrated the 75 Independence Day at the ADC Pughoboto office. The National Flag was unfurled by ADC, Thungchanbemo Tungoe.
Tseminyu: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at ADC office compound with W Manpai Phom, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, as chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute. Special song was presented by Runole Tep which was followed by screening of documentary “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” at ADC conference hall, Tseminyu.

Pfutsero: Together with the rest of the nation, Pfutsero sub-division celebrated the 75th Independence Day at Pfutsero Sports Complex Ground with ADC Pfutsero, Japheth Woch as the Chief Guest.
He unfurled the National Tricolor followed by Rashtriya salute and singing of national anthem by Baptist Theological College, Pfutsero.
Aghunato: Aghunato sub-division celebrated the 75th Independence Day at Additional Deputy Commissioner’s Office compound with ADC Aghunato, T Moa Lemtor as chief quest. He unfurled the National Flag and took Rashtriya salute from 8 NAP C. Coy, Aghunato.
National Anthem was sang by Aghunato Town Students Union and later chief quest read out the Independence Day speech. The function was attended by Government Officials, DBs, GBs and NGOs.
Tuli: Independence Day was celebrated in Tuli ADC’s office complex. Shaying Sheu, ADC Tuli unfurled the National Flag and took Rashtriya salute from the DEF personnel Tuli in the presence of government officials, GBs and public leaders.
Wakching: India’s Independence Day was observed at Wakching sub-division under Mon. L Samuel Konyak, SDO (Civil) Wakching, unfurled the National Flag and took salute from Nagaland Police. The programme was attended by government officials and well-wishers.
Shamator: Along with rest of the country, Shamator celebrated 75th Independence Day at ADC office compound. Special guest, ADC Shamator, Warren Holohon Yepthomi, unfurled the Tricolour while National Anthem was sung by Shamator College, Shamator. The chief guest also read out the 75th Independence Day Speech.
