Ind candidate Hayithung Lotha endorses NBCC’s CEM

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, APRIL 13: Independent candidate Hayithung Lotha today endorsed the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC)’s Clean Election Movement and 152 hours Chain of Prayers for Lok Sabh Election 2024.
In a statement issued today, Lotha said that NBCC’s appeal to people of Nagaland is a “morally rights stance” and a “spiritual awakening message of hope”.
“In every election, both State and Central in Nagaland, we get to come across blatant tribalism/clanism, range/village ism, muscle power, electoral coup/booth capturing, free flow of alcohol/drugs abuse, vote buying and money power at play. It totally negates the basic core principles of Christianity”, he stated.
On the matter of the JD (U) negative reactions to NBCC-CEM statement, the Independent candidate said it is very childish, immature, shameful and morally wrong on the part of JD (U) or for that matter any other political party to openly criticise the NBCC, which is the apex Christian body in the State whom lakhs of Christians in Nagaland revere with awe and respect.
“The allegations of JD (U) even went to the extend stating that many reverends, pastors and prominent church workers during State General Election 2023 tacitly or even openly supporting various candidates of political party”, he said and reminded the JD (U) that in a constitutional democracy every citizen of India has the right to support, campaign and vote in favour of any particular candidate belonging to any political party.
Lastly, he appealed to one and all in Nagaland is to prayerfully be a part of the NBCC call for 152 hours Chain of Prayer for the ensuing 2024 Parliamentary Lok Sabha Elections.
