Immunization refresher training held at Jalukie

Dimapur, February 23: A 1-day District level electronic vaccine intelligence network (eVin) cum immunization refresher training for cold chain handlers and health workers for Peren District was held on February 19 at Jalukie Town Local Baptist Church conference hall, Jalukie Town. The programme was chaired by Dr Nukshisangla Jamir, District Program Officer UIP/RCH Peren and the resource person were Rajesh Monsang, Regional Project Officer (UNDP), Imli Longkumer, Regional Project Officer (UNDP) and Kinston, Senior Project Officer (UNDP).
The topics covered were strengthening universal immunization programme (UIP), UIP recording and reporting, cold chain and vaccine logistics management, demonstration of eVin store app, order management module, temperature logger and assessment management, frequently asked questions and trouble shooting, field issues in eVin implementation.
The training highlighted how the eVin works and the common mistakes, what is cold chain, purpose of immunization supply chain, improving immunization coverage, importance of record keeping and the sub centre routine immunization microplan.
IPC campaign
Interpersonal communication campaign, focus group discussion (FGD) village wise was held in 10 villages covering 3 blocks under Peren District starting January 19 to February 7. The topic was based on child health, maternal health, family planning and adolescent health. The campaign was carried out to reach out to the grass root level in the villages, to communicate and disseminate information, educate and to get feedback; focus group discussion with an average of 10 participants per village. Altogether, there were 162 participants.
A team consisting of IEC personnel, block programme manager Peren Block, ASHA’s coordinator Peren, Tening and Athibung Block along with nurses from Athibung and Tening conducted the FGD’s. The discussion was solely based on the specific topic for each village.
FGD’s have proved to be quite effective in disseminating and educating the right information on health issues in reaching out to the villages. The sole purpose of the activity is to share and discuss about the specific topics and also to clear the doubts. (Page News Service)
