IMCT visits Kohima & Phek

Dimapur, September 6: The Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) from Central Government led by Director In-charge, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Kolkata, Dr. K Manoharan and Anirban Acharyya from Ministry of Road Transport & Highway, Guwahati visited the landslide affected areas under Kohima and Phek districts today. The main purpose of their visit was to take stock of the damages caused by unprecedented rains over the last few weeks.
The team visited the major landslide affected areas including Varii and Phesama landslide areas where reportedly around 32 households were affected and displaced due to landslides. After that, the team proceeded to Viswema, Kidima and Zuketsa route and inspected all the major landslide affected areas. The team later visited Sidzii river bridge and inspected around its vicinity caused by artificial dam formed at Sidzii river due to blockage of massive landslide that occurred below RD Block, Kikruma. While returning, the team also visited the landslide areas and crops damages at Mima and Kigwema village.
The IMCT was accompanied by officials from Road & Bridges, Agriculture, I&FC, Soil & Water Conservation, Fisheries, Horticulture, Rural Development, IPR, Sericulture, District Administration and Police .
The team also visited and assessed the damaged areas and affected houses in Kohima town due to landslide.
The IMCT was accompanied by the district administration led by DC Rajesh Soundararajan, NSDMA, DDMA and line departments. The officials apprised the team about the extent of damages to properties, roads, paddy field, fishery ponds etc.
The team visited and assessed the damages at Keziekie, KMC Solid Waste Management site in Lerie, Para Medical colony, Daklane, Old KMC dumping site, NH-29, Naga Hospital, Soul Harvest church, Pezielietsie, Perizie, Sanuorü, Nhachükhu and Keyakie.
