Dimapur, September 25: The Public Action Committee (PAC) Dimapur has called a meeting with all CSOs of Dimapur on September 26 to discuss the rise in rampant illegal collection of money in and around Dimapur.
PAC media cell requested all PAC members, president & secretaries of all tribal hohos, NWHD, DUCCF, DCCI, DNSU, BAN, ACAUT, Dimapur Sadar GB Association, non-Naga communities and transporters to attend the meeting on priority at Western Chakhesang Hoho conference hall, on September 26, at 11 am.
Meeting not endorsed by us, says NCD
However, the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has expressed shock at the meeting called by PAC of all tribal presidents and Dimapur base civil societies’ organizations, saying it has no knowledge and has not convened any such meeting especially at this juncture of COVID-19 pandemic.
In a release, the NCD also reminded that it has already dissolved all sub-committee including Public Action Committee (PAC) on March 10, 2020 prior to the installation of the new office bearers.
Stating that the NCD is now actively functioning under the leadership of K. Ghokheto Chophy, president of Naga Council Dimapur and all sub-Committee under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur is yet to be constituted, the release said the September 26 meeting is not endorsed by the Naga Council Dimapur and urged those behind the “self-styled meeting” not to mislead the public.
Further, NCD appealed to all right thinking citizens of Dimapur not to participate in such “uncalled meeting” organized by self-styled individuals.
No longer under NCD, says PAC
The PAC has expressed pain that the Naga Council Dimapur is circulating a message to desist members of PAC to attend the scheduled meeting on September 26.
“PAC fail to understand why NCD is restraining the hohos and frontal organizations to attend the meeting when PAC is against illegal taxation, threat, syndication, killing etc taking place which are affecting the public life directly and indirectly?” said the PAC media cell in another release.
The release said the PAC was dissolved by NCD on 3/03/2020 stating reasons of end of tenure. “However the public of Dimapur representing all tribal hohos and frontal organizations held a meeting on 5/03/2020 and as per desire and want of the public PAC was reformed. Therefore PAC is no longer under NCD but a committee set up by tribal hohos and frontal organizations of Dimapur,” it said.
The release clarified that the PAC do not intend to interfere in the NCD but will function independently for the public of Dimapur. “The activities undertaken by PAC since its inception was to fight for the public both Nagas and non Nagas. There is no hidden agenda as was visible from day one and PAC have not deviated from its stand,” it claimed.
The PAC appealed to all peace loving citizens and organizations to attend the scheduled meeting, which is not against any organization, group or individual but for the welfare of Dimapur citizens.
