ICFAI summer camp concludes


Dimapur, June 9: NSS Unit of The ICFAI University Nagaland culminated its week long Summer Camp for the NSS volunteers on June 8. The campaign was initiated by Prof C P Alexander, Vice chancellor IUN, and supervised by Dr. Imtinungsang Jamir, Programme Officer at Sovima Village and concluded in presence of Maj. Mohit Singh (Asst. Commandant) as Guest of Honour.
The campaign was organized with an intention to address various developmental issues of national importance. It was instigated under the theme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, a mission launched as national movement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that aims to clean up the streets, roads, and infrastructure.
As part of the campaign and in confluence of World Environment Day (WED). The volunteers planted various tree saplings surrounding the Sovima local ground and its adjacent areas. The campaign was focused towards keeping village clean by wiping the approached road to Sovima village from NH29 and the neighbourhood.
During the camp, which was attended by 25 volunteers, also spread messages on uses of eco-friendly products, plantation of sapling, saving water, getting rid of usage of polythene bags etc.
The University thanked the Chairman and village council of Sovima, Department of Forest Dimapur, and various other organizations for their supports and arrangements. (Page News Service)
