Dimapur, March 10: Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa, ICAR Research complex for NEH Region, Medziphema organized a one day awareness programme cum farmer scientist interaction on “Role of weather based Agromet Advisory Services for the development of agriculture & allied sectors in Nagaland” at Amaluma village, Dhansiripar block for Amaluma and Doyapur farmers under Dimapur district on March 7. Altogether 45 farmers attended the programme.
Imtisenla Walling, Technical Officer, AMFU Jharnapani, ICAR Nagaland Centre gave the introductory remarks and apprised the participants on Agromet Advisory and its usefulness in depth and how its usage could help the farmers in making decisions and efficient mobilization of farm resources in the changing climate scenario and encouraged the farmers to avail the opportunity of ICT medium like whatsapp.
Ph. Romen Sharma, Scientist, Agricultural Extension generated awareness among the farmers about the improved crop varieties and breed suitable for our region for more production and encourage the farmers to avail the opportunity. Farmers were also encouraged to utilize the service of Kisan Mobile Advisory Service where SMS are sent biweekly (Tuesday and Friday) in Nagamese on weather based for contingency planning and betterment of their livelihood.
Dr Mahak Singh, Scientist, Animal Reproduction & Gynaecology educated the farmers on the improved varieties of poultry and piggery that are suitable for our region.
Dr Moanaro spoke on pest and disease management with the changing climate scenario.
Farmers actively participated in the discussion, and the problems faced by the farmers on agriculture and livestock were noted. (Page News Service)
