Dimapur, August 24: The two days I&B regional conference of NE zone and Kolkata concluded on August 24 at Guwahati.
On the second day of the conference, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Amit Khare addressed the DIPRs of NE states and senior officers of I&B units of NE.
All the DIPRs of the NE states highlighted on how the various units can converge to highlight the activities and achievements o the Government. Commissioner & Secretary, IPR, Nagaland, Maria Yanthan appraised the secretary and officials of the ministry on the activities of various media units in Nagaland and highlighted the grievances and difficulties faced by All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra. She mentioned the shortage of staff and officers in the two units and also pointed out that no PIB officer has been posted in Kohima for the last many years.
She further brought to the notice of the ministry officials that it will not be fair to shift the office of the Regional Outreach Bureau from Kohima to Imphal as is being contemplated by the ministry.
The secretary gave a patient hearing to all the suggestions and grievances put forward and called on the State DIPRs and the I&B media units to work hand in hand towards the common goal of keeping informed on the policies and programmes of the Government. Nagaland state was represented by Commissioner & Secretary, IPR, Maria Yanthan and Director IPR, Limawati Ao.
