IAF choppers evacuate patients from Kiphire


Dimapur, August 8: Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers on Wednesday evacuated 14 persons needing medical attention from Kiphire HQ and Seyochung sub division.
Landslides caused by heavy rains across the State have totally cut off Kiphire District from the rest of the State for more than a week now.
Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) informed that the IAF chopper made the evacuation of sick patients along with attendants and AR personnel after dropping essential commodities in Seyochung sub-division and Kiphire HQ on Wednesday.
NSDMA informed that it had so far completed one week of air operations lifting and dropping of essential commodities to the affected districts. The IAF choppers have made 19 sorties out of which 13 sorties were successful in seven locations across the State. The essential commodities as organised by the department of F&CS totalling 14,044 kilos has been supplied to the affected districts.
The NSDMA extended appreciation to all the agencies including the Indian Air Force (IAF), Ministry of Defence, the Director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Dimapur, the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and all the agencies for putting their best to contain the crisis.
Depending on the situation the emergency operations shall continue, NSDMA informed. (Page News Service)
