Hunting of Amur Falcon banned in Mon

Dimapur, November 3: Mon District administration has banned hunting, trapping and killing of Amur Flacons in Mon District.
Amur Flacons are protected under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and hunting, trapping, killing or selling of Amur Flacons can lead to 3 years imprisonment or a fine of Rs 25000 or both under Section 51 of the Act.
Informing that some instances of hunting, trapping and killing of Amur Flacons in Mon District have been reported, the Mon district administration directed all administration officers and village councils under Mon District to give wide publicity in their respective jurisdictions and strictly enforce the order along with police and Forest Department.
