ENCSU appeals to conduct online exam
Dimapur, November 12: The Higher & Technical Education Department has requested the Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University to postpone the exams for University students, taking into consideration the prevailing pandemic (Covid-19) in the state.
In a letter to the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Secretary, Animi Lotha stated that majority of the students who are going to appear the odd semester examination i.e., 1st/3rd/5th Semester are enrolled in colleges within Kohima and Dimapur and as such most of the students who have gone home to their respective districts, vacating their rental houses and hostels, would face difficulty finding proper accommodation for appearing the examination.
The Deputy Secretary also stated that it would be difficult to follow the SOP, considering the large number of students.
The Deputy Secretary requested the Vice Chancellor to conduct the examinations in January/February 2021 since UGC has changed its academic calendar from November 2020-May 2021.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) has appealed to the Nagaland University to conduct online examination for odd semester 2020.
In a letter to Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, the ENCSU appealed to conduct the examination in the same manner as it was conducted for the even semester past couple of months.
Stating that one has to maintain social distance, offline examination is no advisable.
The Union said since the students are in different locations and there is no proper transportation, the students travelling to different districts just to appear the exam is not convenient and inappropriate.
It said if online exam is conducted, it would solve number of problems of the institution as well as the students. (Page News Service)
