Dimapur, July 17: The Hindu Seva Samiti and Muslim Council Dimapur have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur to open New Market and Haji Park Market at the earliest.
In a joint appeal letter to the DC Dimapur, the HSS and MCD the closing down of the two markers since March 2020 has crossed more than 120 days. “Covid-19 will remain till its vaccine is not found. In other part of India business had opened and even the shopping mall are also opened with certain guidelines. In similar way both the markets can be allowed to open with strict guideline which administration feel fit,” it said.
The letter said most of the shopkeepers belong to Hindu and Muslim and more than 15000 family members of the shopkeepers depend on the earning of these two markets.
The HSS and MCD said they have met the CAO DMC for his opinion on reopening of the two markets and learnt that the CAO had already submitted the plan and guidelines to open the two markets. “So in the light of his guideline, market may be allowed to open at the earliest,” it appealed.
“Maximum shopkeepers are tenant from two communities and we see & fear their plight as every shopkeepers have at least five members to feed. Their children are also taking education by online classes for which fee to be paid, in present situation could not meet the kitchen expenses, some of them are gone in depression, we fear if immediately something is not done in this regard than we have to face unwanted circumstances like self immolation or suicidal feeling in this mind. Till today everyone are in hope that market will open after 15 July 2020. But if it is deferred again unbearable situation for the shopkeepers may arise,” the letter added.
Meanwhile, talking to Nagaland Page, DC Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi IAS said that he has received the joint appeal from Hindu Seva Samiti and Muslim Council Dimapur and forwarded it to the Government. (Page News Service)
