
Kohima, June 12: Four toppers of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and two toppers of Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate 2022 from Eastern Nagaland have been conferred with 1st edition of Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) Meritorious Award 2022 under Y. Mangko Trust.
In an award ceremony organized by ENPO here today at Hotel Vivor, HSSLC top 1 (Science) Ngamjong JN Yanlem have been awarded with Rs.25,000 along with citation.
Dorela Jangru- HSSLC Top 6 (Arts) received Rs. 20,000 along with citation.
HSLC Top 9 – Sangyuchenla Chang have been awarded with Rs. 20,000 along with citation.
Lirola T Sangtam, Biiben Khamnon Chang and Yingmei M Konyak who secured top 11, 12 and 20 respectively in HSLC examination, received Rs. 15,000 each along with citation
The award was handed over by ENPO president R. Tsapikiu Sangtam.
ENPO general secretary Manlang Phom said that Y. Mangko Trust has been instituted by the family of Y.Mangko Phom.
Under the presidentship of Y.Mangko, the ENPO demand for “Frontier Nagaland” was first moved in 2010.
He said the first edition of ENPO meritorious award 2022 under Y. Mangko Trust commenced from this year onward.
He said that it is a platform to give due recognition to meritorious students of Eastern Nagaland belonging to Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam, Yimkhiung and Tikhir.
The background of the award was given by Dr. M. Longai Phom. He shared Y. Mangko’s passion for education.
Mangko served as president of Phom People’s Council (PPC), wherein the district inauguration of Longleng took place during his tenure. He also served as ENPO president for two terms.
Also speaking on the occasion, C.L. John, advisor Land Resources, Nagaland and general secretary Eastern Nagaland Legislature Union congratulated all the achievers and urged them to be humble in their hunt for excellence.
He also stressed on the need to transform the education system in the state, and called for practical education.
Later, Rev. N. Pomo Khiamniungan, Pastor KBCK invoked God’s blessing for the awardees. (Page News Service)
