Home Dept issues advisory against hunting

Dimapur, April 30: The State Home Department has advised the general public not to hunt or consume any wild meat, especially wild boar, civet, etc since there is a strong possibility of the virus of ‘African Swine Fever’ being present in such wild animals.
In an advisory, the Home Department said a ban on import of pigs has also been imposed throughout the State, in view of the outbreak of African Swine Fever in neighbouring States. “It is strongly advised to the general public not to hunt or consume any wild meat, especially wild boar, civet etc since there is a strong possibility of the virus being present in such wild animals,” it said.
The advisory asked all Deputy Commissioners to bring notify all village councils about the same. (Page News Service)
