Dimapur, October 27: In much pomp and gaiety, Holy Cross Parish Dimapur today celebrated its golden jubilee here at the premise of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur on the theme ‘Redeemed by the Cross’.
The celebration was attended by Archbishop of Kolkata, Rev. Thomas D’Souza as the chief celebrant while the first parish priest Rev. Fr. P C Mani was the special guest. Rev. Dominic Lumon, Archbishop of Imphal, Rev. Paul Mattekatt, Bishop of Diphu and Rev. Dr. James
Thoppil were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev. D’Souza said that the parish has been a blessing of God and the theme for the auspicious is fitting as it is through the Cross that the world have been redeemed from darkness, sickness, doubt and selfishness. He asked the people to recommit themselves to God day after day.
Talking to the young people, he said that they are precious and must not let anyone treat them as anything less than precious.
Rev. Dr. James Thoppil in his speech had called the celebration as a time to rejoice and continue the good works for which Holy Cross has become a landmark in the city. He asked the parishioners to keep making differences and have a greater commitment and integrity.
Rev. Dominic Lumon maintained that the jubilee calls for trust to be put on God and surrender to God and He will provide everything.
Rev. Fr. P.C. Mani said that the works of the Church has been great in the last 50 years, but the success for everything depends on the will of God. He asked the people to give God the front seat and everything will be successful.
The Holy Cross Parish Dimapur was established in the year 1968 and presently has 33 different communities, 855 families and 3631 members.
