High HIV prevalence highlighted in Tuensang DPDB meet

Dimapur, May 16: The monthly meeting of District Planning and Development Board was held on May 14 in the DC’s conference hall, Tuensang under the chairmanship of SDO Civil, Ajit Kumar, IAS.
In the meeting, Project Coordinator, Kripa Foundation, Ketho highlighted the prevalence of HIV and drug abuse in the district, which is leading with a very high number of HIV positive ranking, the second highest in the State. He urged the public and civil authorities to campaign and promote awareness on HIV and substance abuse.
The DPO of District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit and Care and Support Centre and the President of Positive Network also highlighted the facilities available in the district to prevent the same.
Executive Engineer (Highways) expressed the need to follow up on the proposal of the extension of the National Highway 202 to two lane roads from zero to 95 Km in the first phase.
President of Tuensang District Taekwondo Association gave a representation for financial assistance for the celebration of the successful 25th year anniversary (silver jubilee).
Further discussion was made to register the Tuensang district Table Tennis Association and entrusted the concerned authority to put up a representation for the same. (Page News Service)
