Heavy rains in State till July 14: NSDMA


Dimapur, July 9: Heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is expected in Nagaland over the following week. Several other weather conditions will be seen during this time along with hefty showers.
According to weather updates for the coming days issued by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, the next few days will see not only heavy rains and strong winds but also the possibility of flash floods, mud slides as well as landslides. Lightning strikes will also be a common feature during this time and these showers are expected to continue over the state of Nagaland until July 14.
NSDMA said the northern half of Nagaland will be more vulnerable than the southern half and there is a bigger risk in places like Mon, Tizit, Tuli, Longleng, Tuensang, Mokokchung ,Wokha and Bhandari.
It informed all the DDMAs and other line departments responsible to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities to be on alert to save lives and properties during the period.
The NSDMA, Home Department also urged the public to be vigilant during this monsoon period from lightning, gusty winds and thunderstorms. Public have been requested not to shelter under large trees and near river banks to prevent unnecessary risk to life from lightning and flash flood. (Page News Service)
