Heavy rainfall, lightning imminent next few days, cautions NSDMA

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, MAY 12: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has informed that heavy rainfall accompanied with lightning is expected in the coming days and pre-monsoon activity is expected to pick up.
“The lowland and foothill areas of Nagaland such as Dimapur, Nuiland, Chümuokedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit and Tuli are likely to experience inundated water logging and flash flood because of the heavy precipitation in the hill sector. It is therefore important to take necessary precautionary measures during this time and exercise caution from lightning strikes and gale winds which may cause disruption in communication and connectivity”, it stated in a press release issued on Thursday.
It urged citizens to be vigilant and not take shelter under large trees and near the river banks to prevent unnecessary risk to life.
It also requested all the DDMAs and other line Departments to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities and to be alert to save lives and property. (Page News Service)
