Heavy rain to moderate light rain likely in Nagaland: NSDMA

DIMAPUR, MAY 27: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has informed that overcast heavy rain to moderate light rain is likely to occur during this week all over the districts in the Stat in view of the cyclonic storm Remal over costal Bangladesh.
In a weather update, NSDMA said squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmps gusting to 70 kmph is likely over Nagaland. The cyclonic storm system is likely to move north-northeast wards and gradually weaken further into deep depression by the evening of May 27.
During this period, moderate flash flood risk over few rivers and foothill areas of the State is likely to occur during the next 24 hours due to persistent rainfall under the influence of impending cyclonic storm “Remal”.
In this regard, NSDMA, Home Department urged the public to exercise caution and stay away from going to rivers and lakes to avoid eventualities of drowning and other casualties due to the flash flood and landslide induced by cyclonic persistent rainfall.
