Dimapur, February 16: One day Health check up for adolescent child bearing group and Per-Natal Diagnostic technique (PNDT) Act and awareness programme was held at Bhandari town hall on February 15 under Beti Bachao Beti Badhao, organised by District Administration in collaboration with Medical Department.
The resource persons were Dr. Nounenuo Terhase, Obs & Gyn DMMDH Wokha who spoke on Pre-natal Diagnostic Technique (PNDT) Act, Teenagers pregnancy and its effect, reproductive and sexual health of adolescent. Shanchobeni Khuvung Penal Lawer WDLSA, spoke on” Protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) Act 2012 which was enacted with a view to protecting children from offences of sexual assault and pornography. All offences under this Act are punishable with imprisonment.
She also spoke on the right to free and compulsory Education Act 2009, Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of women from Domestic violence, the child labours prohibition and regulation Act 1986. The act was enacted to regulate the working conditions of children in employments which shall also be punishable with imprisonment up to one year.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Lawrence MO Bhandari CHC, who also delivered welcome note.
Short speeches were delivered by EAC Bhandari T.Sulanthung Lotha and Dr. Zuben Kikon Dy CMO Wokha. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Aotula Dental surgeon Bhandari CHC.
The Awarness programme was attended by school children, Asha and Anganwadi workers, Eloe Hoho President and a team from CMO Wokha. Dr Khelito DIO, Matsung DPM (NHM), L Opanthung DEO (IPSP) Khonbemo PMW and CHC Bhandari Doctors and staff.
