DIMAPUR, JUNE 17: Citing a directive from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland Government has directed all district Health authorities to implement a revised SOP on administration of second Covishield dose to 3 groups of people.
In an order issued on June 16, the State Immunization Officer, Dr Ritu Thurr said that a special dispensation to administer the second dose prior to the prescribed time interval (after 28 days but before 84 days) will be available for students who have to undertake foreign travels for education; persons who have to take up jobs in foreign countries; and athletes, sportspersons and accompanying staff of Indian contingent attending the Tokyo Olympics.
The second dose can be availed only at District Hospitals and the district officials should check the eligibility before administering the jab, he informed.
The district officials have been directed to determine whether a period of 28 days has elapsed after the first dose, and the genuineness of the purpose of travel based on documents related to admission offers or associated formal communications for education, interview calls or job offer letters, whether a person is already studying in a foreign country and has to return to the institution to continue his/her education, and nomination to participate in the Tokyo Olympics.
