DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29: Nagaland Government on Monday informed the Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court that it has issued a notice asking for submission of names of officers, apart from doctors, who have not joined their duties after the Attachment Order was issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The Government Counsel also told the Court that other medical professionals like technicians, nurses etc. would also be included in the Attachment Order.
This submission from the Government comes against the backdrop of the Court’s earlier directive to the Principal Secretary of Health & Family Welfare to file an affidavit explaining why no medical personnel were posted at some health centres and why medical personnel, including doctors, were attached elsewhere than their place of posting.
“While doing so, he shall also mention as to when the attached medical personnel will be reverted back to their original place of posting. Along with what has been stated above the Principal Secretary shall also mention the number of doctors posted in the Medical Directorate along with their designations and assignments”, the Court had ruled on April 20.
In the previous hearing held on June 15, the Principal Secretary had failed to file the affidavit and earned a warning from the Court that “appropriate orders will be passed” against him if he doesn’t file it by the next returnable date.
When the hearing was held on Monday, the Counsel for the Department told the Court that they were awaiting reports in the aftermath of the notice asking for submission of names of officers, apart from doctors, who have not joined their duties.
In their order, the Bench comprising Justices PJ Saikia and Marli Vankung listed the matter to be heard again after two weeks with a directive to the respondents to file the necessary affidavit to that effect.
