Guv stresses on implementation of Centre & State welfare schemes

Dimapur, April 17: Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya stated that implementation of Centre and State welfare flagship schemes is not only the responsibility of the Government agencies but also the responsibility of the empowering agencies like universities, colleges and schools.
Governor Acharya was addressing a meeting with representatives from various Universities in Nagaland, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Hindustan Scouts and Guides, Raj Sanik Board and NEZCC at Raj Bhavan on April 17.
The Governor explained that there were a number of schemes and welfare programmes such as Jan Dhan Yoyana, Jeevan Yyoti Bima Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Account, Mudra Bank, etc. which are beneficial for the welfare and upliftment of the people. He, however, observed that most people are not aware of the various programmes.
The Governor called on the Offices to inspire the people in their institutions including student to be more aware of the schemes and to take advantage of them and to also disseminate information about these schemes in their areas.
Acharya also stated that that skill upgradation was very important and institutions should focus on making their students employable and entrepreneurs. He further stated that the Government of India has introduced Mudra schemes targeted for helping students, especially from the weaker section of the society to become entrepreneurs.
Governor Acharya stated that Universities and institutions should play a pro active role in shaping the future of the youth of Nagaland. Students when they come out of universities and institutions should be able to stand on their feet and make the economy of the State strong, he added.
He called for implementation of Skill Development courses in all institutions which will prove beneficial for jobs, self-employment and empowerment of the students.
The Governor also stated that the Minister, HRD, Government of India Prakash Javadekar has informed him on the introduction of National Academic Depository. He explained that NAD is a 27X7 online store house of all academic awards duly digitised and lodged by institutions.
He stated that NAD not only ensures easy access to and retrieval of an academic award but also validates and guarantees its authenticity and safe storage. (Page News Service)
