Dimapur, July 30: Governor of Nagaland R N Ravi has extended warm wishes to the people of Nagaland, especially to Chang brothers and sisters on the occasion of Naknyulum festival, which is celebrated to signify the triumph of light over darkness.
According to Chang mythology, ancient people practiced home confinement in times of darkness and uncertainty and would come out only on the last day to celebrate the light.
In his message, the Governor said during this festival, our Chang friends also share their produce, exchange gifts and care for one another. Another beautiful practice is the enthusiastic cleaning of the village by the village people.
He said through the rituals of the festival, the Naga people for several hundreds of years survived and preserved their culture and philosophy of learning to live in harmony with nature.
“Let us celebrate the Naknyulum festival in its true spirit while observing the constrains of the global pandemic COVID-19,” he said and wished everybody with good health, peace of mind and prosperity on the occasion of Naknyulum Festival.
