Kohima, March 31: Around 55 trainees undertook a day-long skill training on “Alternative to Plastic” organized by Green Team Kohima in collaboration with Khonoma Students Union at Khonoma village today.
The skill training was imparted on making paper and cloth bags with a view to overcome the use of plastic carry bags.
Green Team Kohima comprises of Kohima Municipal Council, Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries, The Coming Generation, Yard, Project 72 hours, Earth Friendly Generation and concerned individuals working towards creating the safer health and environment from different background.
KCCI General Secretary Akhrie Mor in her brief address appreciated the State Government for its sensitivity and seriousness on the notification to ban plastic In the state and asked the young students and other participants from women society to be prepared and equip themselves to do away and tackle the menace of adverse effects of plastic on human health and environment.
Chief Administrator of The Coming Generation, Francis Ruangmei said plastics are synthesis from polymer with chemical and has hazardous chemical to human health and environment.
Bisphenol A contain in plastic is known to cause cancer, infertility and hormone disorder, he said.
The program started with the welcome note from Khonoma Students Union president Kelhu.
