Dimapur, June 17: A gratitude social with the Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya on completion of 5 years in office was held at Nagaland House, Guwahati on June 14. Acharya will complete five years as Governor of Nagaland on July 19.
The Governor in his address recalled his first visit to Nagaland in 1963 and meeting with the then Chief Minister P Shilu Ao. He said the people of the region are honest and appealed the educated youth to work for the welfare of the society and for all round development in the state and not self centered. The Governor also called for change in the mindset of the people and opined that work is worship while stating no job is inferior. Skill education is the only hope for making the society stronger and economically sound, he added.
Protocol Officer Nagaland House, Guwahati, Apoveyi Nienu on behalf of the staff’s thanked the Governor for care towards the people of Nagaland and for initiating doctor, student and teacher exchange programmes and other welfare activities for the people of the state.
Short speeches were also delivered by Naga Students Union, Guwahati & Guwahati Eastern Naga Student Union. The program was chaired by DRC Nagaland House, Guwahati, Sentila Jamir.
