Dimapur, July 24: The GPRN/NSCN has refuted Nagaland Police’s claim that one of the persons arrested in connection with the March 22 killings at Lamhainamdi Village was a member of the Naga group.
In a rejoinder issued on Saturday, the group stated that the accused Lettinlen Hangsing was neither enrolled nor appointed as a member of GPRN/NSCN. It suggested that “perhaps the name of GPRN/NSCN was wrongly dragged in without properly ascertaining the fact”.
According to the group, Lettinlen Hangsing was a habitual offender who was, on many occasions, “sternly warned by the GPRN/NSCN authorities to mend his way”.
He was found creating public nuisances in the guise of NSCN for which he was under the observation of “regional authorities”, it added.
“The SIT report of indicting Lettinlen Hangsing as a member of NSCN is factually incorrect, therefore it is urged to ascertain the fact while disseminating such a serious case for public consumption,” the group maintained.
