Govt. revokes notification on shifting of Dimapur DC office

Nagaland News

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11: Nagaland Government has revoked the September 7, 2021 notification for shifting of branches/cells to new Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, Chumukedima, with immediate effect.
In a letter to Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha today stated that the instructions issued by the latter dated September 7, 2021 “stand revoked with immediate effect.”

Earlier, in the day, Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton told media persons that the Government is revoking the September 7, 2021 order.
He also said that Dimapur is the headquarter of Dimapur district and assured that the Home Department would look for the specific order mentioned by the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to have used the tags “HQ Chümoukedima and Camp Dimapur”. He said the matter would be discussed in the Cabinet and the decision would be made known to the CSOs.
Briefing the media about the outcome of a meeting held at Police Complex, Chümoukedima, which had, besides him, representatives of CSOs, Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha, District Administration officials, and Dimapur district legislators Tovihoto Ayemi, Zhaleo Rio, Moatoshi Longkumer, and Azheto Zhimomi as participants, Patton said that a new Sub-Treasury Office would occupy the new building as well as an ADC, besides the EAC.
Replying to the question if the proposed ADC would be a new post, as the CSOs had demanded to not transfer the ADC from the DC Office, Patton said that the issue will be discussed in the Cabinet.
Echoing similar lines, Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha maintained that the issue of using HQ and camp tags that the CSOs had opposed will be looked into and would revert to the CSOs.
After the closed door meeting, a spokesperson of the CSOs expressed satisfaction at the outcome and claimed that the Government has addressed the core issues and the September 7 order would be cancelled within a day, after which the agitation would be withdrawn.
It may be mentioned that the Home Department notification No. GAB-8/DMP/63/2100 (Pt)/249 dated 07.09.2021 issued by the Principal Secretary Home Government of Nagaland had ordered for shifting of ADC office, District Election Office, Disaster Management and other branches at an early date.

Protesting against the order, Dimapur-based civil society organisations on September 29 served an ultimatum to the Chief Minister of Nagaland to cancel the September 7 Home Department order and all other orders/notices with regard to shifting of Deputy Commissioner’s office to Chümoukedima.
The civil societies also demanded the Government to remove “HQ: Chumukedima; Camp: Dimapur” tag from the letterhead of DC, Dimapur.
