Govt. has to talk on Naga issue as peoples’ representative: Nagaland CM

Nagaland News

KOHIMA, JUNE 28: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today said that as elected representatives of the people and as politicians, the State Government has to talk for Naga political solution.
“We represent the people and we are politicians… if we don’t talk politics, who will talk and who will represent us,” affirmed Rio while replying to a query on the recent statements of the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC NNPGs) asking the State Government to concentrate on the affairs of the State and to leave the Naga Political Issue to the negotiating parties.
Asked on the next move of the State Government’s Core Committee on Naga Political Issue, Rio said that everything is going well and currently the Chairman of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), an opposition-less Government in the State, TR Zeliang is out of station but once he is back, the Committee is set to move further ahead.
On the critical comments made by former Chief Minister and Governor Dr SC Jamir, Rio said “if he wants to put allegations, the burden lies on him to prove. Anyway, I have high regards for him… he can talk and the people can judge all of us.”
