Dimapur, September 20: The Government of Nagaland has revoked the license of Mother’s Hope located at 7th Mile Model Village, Dimapur as a “Specialized Adoption Agency” and has shut down the home vide order No.SW/16/ICPS-37/2013 dated 29th July 2019.
With the revocation of the license, any adoption carried out from Mother’s Hope will be treated as illegal with immediate effect, said a press release issued by the Secretary, State Social Welfare Department.
The action against Mother’s Hope was taken in exercise of the power conferred under Section 65 (4) of the JJ Act, 2015, the release said.
According to the Social Welfare Department, the license for Mother’s Hope (Specialized Adoption Agency) was revoked for repeated default, failure to comply to the instruction and direction of State Government and Child Protection Services and failure to adhere to the JJ Act, 2015.
The release said the license was revoked following adverse findings of the officials of Ministry of Women and Child Development inspection team from the Central Government, and the National Advisory Committee, State Inspection Committee, the Joint Action Committee regarding the functioning of the Specialized Adoption Agency; as well as non-compliance of instructions issued from time to time by the State Government concerned.
The SW Department informed that Mother’s Hope was given enough time and consideration since 2015 to rectify its shortcomings and adhere to the rules and regulations, but the home “failed repeatedly to respond and comply with the notices issued.”
