Govt ask schools to promote Naga local dialects


Dimapur, May 5: The Government of Nagaland has directed all schools in the State to implement the three language policy and promotion of Naga local dialects.
In a notification, Principal Secretary, School Education & SCERT, Menukhol John reminded all Government and private schools that as per the language policy, from the academic session of 2018, Naga Heritage Studies textbooks in local languages shall be introduced from Class I and Alternative English abolished in a phased manner starting from Class V and from Classes VI to VIII from the year 2019 in all the schools across the State.
However, in urban areas, in addition to the usage of local languages, the Naga Heritage Studies which shall be prototype textbooks in English shall be used for non-local students (students outside the linguistic group of the local area).
The notification requested the Chairman, NBSE to call for compliance report from all the NBSE affiliated composite higher secondary and high schools and furnish the list of the defaulting schools for taking appropriate action. (Page News Service)
