Governor inaugurates Kirtan Bhawan at Medziphema


Dimapur, April15: Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan inaugurated the Kirtan Bhawan at Shree Shree Vindhya Basini Mandir, Medziphema on April 15.
Speaking at the programme, the Governor said that the day marks a momentous occasion in the Vindhya Basini Mandir history as the inauguration of Kirtan Bhawan and Hawan Kund, the two remarkable achievements that signifies the commitment of spiritual enlightenment and communal harmony.
The Governor expressed gratitude upon learning that the Mandir was founded in February 1962, boasting a history of over 50 years. He recognized and appreciated the generosity of Late Vinezo Angami and his family for donating the land where the present Mandir stands, during this auspicious occasion.
He further stated that the Kirtan Bhawan stands as a beacon of faith and devotion, a sanctuary where melodies of devotion transcends barrier of language and creed. It is a testament to our rich cultural heritage and our unwavering belief in the power of spirituality to unite us all, he added.
The Hawan Kund represents a sacred fire pit used for performing hawan or yajnas which are ancient Vedic rituals involving fire offerings and is regarded as a sanctified space where offerings such as grains, ghee, herbs are ceremonially offered into the fire while chanting sacred mantras. It holds great spiritual & symbolic significance in Hinduism, serving as a focal point for religious rituals, spiritual purification and communion with the Divine, he further stated.
He encouraged everyone to uphold the values that unite us – compassion, empathy, and a shared sense of purpose. He emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from the teachings of our spiritual leaders and the wisdom of our ancestors as we work towards creating a future rooted in harmony and peace.
The Governor further urged everyone to uphold the principles of unity and inclusivity, to foster an environment where everyone can all thrive and flourish.
Highlights of the programme included welcome bhajan, katha bhachan, and the welcome address was delivered by Vumram Giri, President, SSVBM.
