Governor flags concern over high vaccine hesitancy in Nagaland

Dimapur, April 21: Nagaland Governor today held a sensitization-cum-consultation meeting with various political party leaders of the State. Nagaland Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister also attended the meeting.

The Governor urged the party leaders to shed their political differences in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic to save our people and their livelihood because both are at high risk today. Learning from past experience, Governor reiterated the message of the Prime Minister that lockdown should be the last option.
With due regard to the severity of the 2nd wave of the pandemic, a large number of our people suffering from co-morbidities like heart problems, diabetics and hypertension and the status of the medical infrastructure in the State, the Governor emphasized the need on prevention to be the top most priority for all.
Governor also expressed concern with high vaccine hesitancy in the State due to false rumours going around and urged the leaders to play their role as leaders in encouraging people to shed vaccine hesitancy.
In this long fight against the pandemic, Ravi reminded the leaders that the frontline workers have been under severe stress for the last over one year. “They are facing the brunt of the situation. Hence it is our collective responsibility to do everything possible to boost their morale,” he said.
During discussion, political leaders gave several valuable practical suggestions. The Governor thanked them for their non-partisan positive approach and their constructive suggestions and hoped that the Government will take due note of them.
Opposition leader TR Zeliang, MP Lok Sabha Tokheho Yepthomi, NPF president Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu, NDPP working president Alemtemshi Jamir, State BJP general secretary, Eduzu Theluo; NPCC president, K. Theirie; JDU general secretary, Kitoho S.Rotokha; NCP president Vanthungo Odyuo and NPP president Dr Andrew Ahoto also attended the meeting, informed a release issued by the PRO to Governor.
